Sarah Combs and LaVon Stalling Nominated to GLAD Council

The GLAD Alliance Nominating Team has selected two nominees for election to the GLAD Alliance Council. Our thanks to Rick Modglin-Green, Maria Pérez, and Nathan Russell along with council members Dan Adolphson and Lizzy Beach for serving as this year’s Nominating Team.

We are delighted to introduce you to our two candidates for GLAD council. Ballots will be mailed to all current members (as of May 1) next week.

Rev. Sarah Combs is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She holds a B.A. in Religion and Sociology from Texas Christian University and a Masters of Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School. Sarah works as a data analyst at The University of Central Oklahoma and is in the Search and Call process. She lives in Oklahoma City with her wife, Lauren, son, and two fur babies.

LaVon Stalling has been a Disciple since 2005 after experiencing her first General Assembly. She graduated in May of 2009 with her Masters of Divinity degree from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California. LaVon is active in community organizing efforts in Vallejo, CA, primarily around the issue of public safety. She is Executive Director of a newly formed non-profit, The F.O.R.G.E., a center providing after school programs for at-risk, high-risk, and special needs youth in Vallejo. LaVon has a fifteen year old son, Emmanual. She enjoys running, swimming and training for
her first triathlon in the Fall.
