Job Description:  Executive Director

 

Summary

Seeking transformational leader to lead the upward trajectory of AllianceQ for the future. Will lead the organization, and with support from the Moderator Team and the Council, establish vision, goals, and strategy for current and future success. Furthermore, the executive director will manage and direct the implementation of the vision and ministry, including but not limited to coordinating all strategic planning, staffing of personnel, goal setting, and formulation of operational policies and procedures.

 

Central Functions

  • Primary spokesperson for AllianceQ providing communication to internal and external stakeholders
    including the Moderator and the Council, donors, denominational clergy, and members of AllianceQ.
  • Source funding and development needs for ongoing and future ministry requirements such as grant writing
    and donor management.
  • Recruit, onboard, and sustain organizational structure to support long-term growth and vision for AllianceQ.
  • Overall responsibility for effective management of human resource compliance.
  • Oversight and fiduciary responsibility for internal and external reporting and compliance.

Core Duties (Responsibilities)

Vision

  • Works with the Council in clarifying and embodying the organizational mission + vision. 
  • Implements the organizational mission + vision with the staff and membership.
  • Become the primary spokesperson for implementing the organizational mission + vision.

Strategic Planning

  • Meets at least twice a month with the Moderator.
  • Provide a brief report on a monthly basis about the activities of the organization and attend monthly
    Council meetings.
  • Develop and implement an annual strategic plan document. Report annually on the previous fiscal year’s strategic plan including, but not limited to, goals and outcomes.
  • Coordinate planning process with the Council and employees.
  • Works with the Executive Leadership to develop and clarify major objectives and goals.
  • Oversee the progress of staff’s goals and role objectives.
  • Assures development of volunteer leadership training and oversight of volunteers.

 Support + Supervision of Key People

  • Manage all staff, volunteers, and contractors.
  • Collaborates with staff, Council, and stakeholders to implement the organizational mission + vision
    (recruits, trains, develops, and directs teams).
  • Manages and evaluates staff by objectives and goals (evaluation).
  • Presides over staff meetings.
  • Gives support, encouragement, and oversight to the team to ensure their understanding of the vision.
  • Oversee new staff and contractor positions and changes.
  • Creates an environment for all staff to be creative, feel valued and cared for, and have opportunities to
    develop professionally.
  • Meets as needed with staff to ensure that the work gets done with fidelity to the above-listed staff
    items. 
  • Incorporates staff recommendations for vision implementation.

Administration

  • Communicate via phone and email with council, staff, volunteers, and other contacts and partners within a
    reasonable amount of time.
  • Develops and implements operational policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the AllianceQ reputation, administration, and operations.
  • Manage the fiduciary status and sustainability of the organization, with council oversight
  • Maintains and cultivates relationships between AllianceQ and other Disciples Of Christ ministries
    and ecumenical partners.
  • Direct the development, execution, and sustainability of organizational programming

Other Responsibilities

  • Supports and attends AllianceQ events, functions, and meetings. 
  • Represents AllianceQ at General Assembly and attends Regional Assemblies as budget and time allow with Council input.

  2. A demonstrable commitment to LGBTQ+ issues within the Church and outside of the Church.
  3. The ability to communicate a caring, loving heart, coupled with the skills of an effective leader and manager.
  4. A passion to increase the number of churches that become Open + Affirming and individuals who become members of AllianceQ.
  5. Organized, persuasive, and skilled in delegation.  
  6. Experience in strategic and situational planning.
  7. Enables the organization to increase the diversity of the Council and its membership.
  8. A demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and/or other congregational polity structures.
