Welcoming Church Event in Houston

General Assembly resolution GA-1327 “Becoming a People of Grace and Welcome to All” has generated discussion around the denomination.

That discussion will continue at an event for pastors and elders on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Memorial Drive Christian Church (11750 Memorial Drive) in Houston, TX. Hosting the event is First Christian Church, Huntsville, TX.

The evening event will include stories of inclusion and information about tools and resources available from the GLAD Alliance. Rev. Dr. Mark Johnston, Executive Director of GLAD’s Open & Affirming Ministry Program, will be on hand to share the ecumenically tested Building an Inclusive Church Toolkit that guides a congregation through an Open & Affirming process gracefully. Also present will be Karen Barr, GLAD Alliance Council Moderator and Rev. Sharon Hart, former GLAD Council Member and Open & Affirming Team Leader.

The event will be held from 6:00 – 8:30 PM, and a light supper will be provided.
