Prophetic and Hopeful: Imagining a New World with Rev. Terri Hord Owens

Prophetic and Hopeful: Imagining a New World with Rev. Terri Hord Owens

General Minister and President Rev. Terri Hord Owens joined us at the end of November for conversation about  transformation as the RIOT series came to a close.

Rev. Owens named that we are in a hard, prophetic and hopeful place as we imagine a new world. “Go with the people who go with Jesus,” Owens said. Reflecting on this season of Advent she added, “We’ve got to live like the messiah has come. Not just kneel at the manger.”

This conversation was the fourth in the RIOT series.

About RIOT: Turning Over Tables

As a part of June’s Pride worship service, RIOT: Turning Over Tables, we considered the ways God is inviting us to turn over every table of injustice — through revolution, with intention, taking advantage of all opportunity, opening ourselves to God’s transformation.

You can view the worship service, RIOT: Turning Over Tables, on our YouTube channel. Find in-depth conversation with the proclaimers below. And continue to journey with us as we embody our beliefs and turn over tables of injustice.

Celebrate the ministry accomplishments of 2020; here is our annual update. Here are video messages from Council Members and AllianceQ members and friends.

As we look to a new year, you are invited to fill out a commitment card with ways to embody our beliefs. Now, more than ever, it’s about our feet. It’s about practicing what we preach, embodying our beliefs. Your support—your financial support, your participation, creativity and creative gifts (of graphic design, preaching and speaking, teaching, serving, praying… the list is long!), your questions and challenges—all of this from all of you has enabled AllianceQ to embody God’s all-inclusive love. Thank you!

Stay tuned for conversations and events in 2021. In fact, let us know if you are interested in attending a virtual Building an Inclusive Church (BIC) training.

We adapted our BIC training to pilot virtual presentation where one participant said, “This was the best workshop I’ve had during COVID.”

If you haven’t seen it or want to revisit the strategies, check out this resource specific to proclaiming and embodying welcome in virtual spaces: Building an Inclusive Online Worship Experience.
