Northwest Christian Church Added to O&A Ministry Program

Northwest Christian Church in Seattle, WA, is the latest congregation to be added to GLAD’s Open & Affirming Ministry Program.

Pastor Monica Greenberg has been in touch with Mark Johnston, Executive Director of GLAD’s Open & Affirming Ministry Program, for about a year and a half as the congregation has developed it’s statement welcoming all.

In December the congregation adopted this welcoming statement without a single no vote:

As we strive to follow in the way of Jesus Christ, Northwest Christian Church welcomes all of God’s children to join us in worship, service, fellowship, and in the sharing of our faith. We believe that all people are created in the image of God, and that all people can serve God just as they are. We hold in our hearts that God’s love is inclusive. We welcome people of every race, age, physical or mental ability, gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity to join us as we make Jesus Christ known in the world.

The church leadership team concluded the process by adding a non-discrimination employment policy and asked to be added to GLAD’s Open & Affirming Ministry program in December.
