Movie Review: The Wise Kids
The New York Times describes The Wise Kids, as “a guileless exploration of the growing pains of sheltered innocents whose reticence and sincerity evoke 1950s small-town values.”
The movie tells the story of a group of earnest Christian teenagers associated with a Baptist church in Charleston, S.C. and their struggles as they grow in their understanding of their awakening sexuality and as they face conflicts with their faith.
According to The Times, “To call ‘The Wise Kids’ a Christian movie or a gay movie, or even a gay Christian movie, would be to force a label on this touching, low-key drama with no axes to grind.”
