GLAD presence at Northern California-Nevada Annual Gathering and Northwest Regional Assembly

With spring the Disciples season for regional gatherings gets started, and GLAD was present at two of our Regional Assemblies this past month.

Mark Johnston, Executive Director of GLAD’s Open & Affirming Ministry Program, served as presenter for the Northern California-Nevada Annual Gathering’s Circle of Inquiry Discussion on Radical Inclusiveness and GA Resolution 1327 “Becoming a People of Grace and Welcome to All.” During the day a group of members from the region gathered three times to tell stories, listen, and discuss how to become a more welcoming people.

At the Northwest Regional Assembly, Dr. Johnston was invited to present a workshop on becoming an Open & Affirming Church. The workshop was attended by approximately 50 people from all ends of the region and well received.

At both events, there was a display of materials from GLAD and Open & Affirming Ministries where Dr. Johnston was available to answer questions and help members find resources for their congregations.

Dr. Johnston is making plans to be present at the Virginia Regional Assembly, Quadrennial Assembly, the Convocation Biennial, and NAPAD Convocation.
