The GLAD Alliance Council, meeting this weekend at First Christian Church, Minneapolis, confirmed the selection of Rev. Dan Adolphson as Council Moderator. Dan has been serving in the position of Moderator-Elect since June. He has been working closely with former moderator Karen Barr, guiding GLAD’s work through the General Assembly in Columbus this past summer and working towards a smooth transition.
Dan guided the Alliance Council through their leadership retreat late in October, building on the direction that the council has taken over the past couple of years, renewing the council’s commitment to the vision developed at last year’s council retreat, and setting a course for greater involvement of GLAD membership in the work of the Alliance. The council also renewed its commitment to transgender and bi welcome and justice issues. Discussions at the leadership retreat included thoughts on changing the name of the GLAD Alliance (see this article in this month’s Crossbeams) as well as taking a hard look at GLAD’s team structure and re-committing to building teams that will accomplish the mission of the Alliance.

At that time she named that her work with the Alliance was nearly finished and she saw that it was time for new leadership. She had worked hard to renew and unite the GLAD Council through times when the survival of the Alliance was in question. She and the council saw in Dan a leader who has the skills and passion to lead the Alliance.
Karen tells us that she looks forward to having more time for her hobbies: spinning, dying, knitting, and weaving.
