Central Christian Indianapolis Exceeds Membership Drive Goal

Central Christian Church, Indianapolis, IN, has exceeded the 10% goal of GLAD’s Membership Drive. Twenty four members of Central Christian, 11.4% of the congregation, are also GLAD members.

The GLAD Alliance is supported by our members, not the General Church, and by congregations both directly and by participating in the GLAD Membership Drive. Membership means that you are participating in the work to build a church where people of all gender expressions and all sexual orientations are welcome at the table. GLAD has challenged each Open & Affirming Congregation of the Christian Church to sign up 10% of its members as GLAD members.

The only other church which has exceeded the goal is Fireside Christian Church which has 10 church members who are members of GLAD, 42% of the congregation. Fireside Christian has exceeded the 10% goal since before GLAD began the Membership Drive.

Other churches that deserve mention are Edmond Trinity Christian Church in Edmond, OK, which has 7 GLAD members or 9.7% of the congregation and Welcome Table, Seattle, WA, which has 7 GLAD members, 7.6% of the congregation.

After Central Christian Church Indianapolis, the church with the second highest number of GLAD members is National City Christian Church, Washington, DC, with 11 GLAD members. National City is a large congregation and this constitutes 2.2% of the congregation.
