Building an Inclusive Church Trainings - In Tennessee, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Indianapolis
Building an Inclusive Church Trainings are for you!
Yes – you!
No, you say: My church isn’t ready to become Open & Affirming.
No, you say: My church already is Open & Affirming.
Nah, you say, not me, it’s too hard and complicated for me.
Yup – for you!
Every church can take another step along the welcoming journey, including yours, and a Building an Inclusive Church Training will show you how to map out that journey in a way that is customized for your congregation, starting where people are today and moving forward with grace and respect.
It’s not difficult, it’s not complicated. What is it then? Thoughtful. Grace-filled. Prayerful. Yes, some patience required. Some commitment too. And many skills are needed, including yours. A Building an Inclusive Church Training will give you the rest of the tools needed to move a congregation along the welcoming journey.
And your church is already Open & Affirming? Great! The tools shared in this training will be of benefit in many other ways. AND – (wait, there’s more!) – GLAD needs people like you to help nurture your neighboring congregations along in the journey to welcome and affirmation.
So what are you waiting for?
There are five trainings currently on GLAD’s calendar. Four are two-day trainings sponsored by our friends at ReconcilingWorks: Lutherans for Full Participation. The fifth is a one-day training offered as a General Assembly Pre-Assembly Event by GLAD.
These trainings are fully worth the effort of travel to attend. And, it’s possible a training can be scheduled near you. Do you know of a couple of churches that would show up if a training was scheduled in your area, even in your church? Then be in touch with Mark Johnston, Executive Director of GLAD’s Open & Affirming Ministry Program at mark@gladalliance.org.
Upcoming two-day trainings are:
- April 7-8 : Knoxville TN
- April 28-29 : La Crosse WI
- April 28-29 : North Versailles PA
- May 19-20 : Delavan WI
You can get more information about these trainings offered by ReconcilingWorks here.
GLAD’s Pre-Assembly Building an Inclusive Church Event will be held on July 19 at the General Assembly. More information about this is here. (And information about all of GLAD’s General Assembly plans can be found on our calendar and in this Crossbeams article from last month.)
