Building an Inclusive Church at Brite Divinity School

Building an Inclusive Church at Brite Divinity School

A Building an Inclusive Church Training, provided by the GLAD Alliance Open & Affirming Ministry Program and hosted by Brite Divinity School, was held in Fort Worth, TX, on May 20-21.

Members and clergy from several area churches attended, including churches that are welcoming LGBT folk and seeking to be more open about that welcome as well as churches that are on the journey to open their welcome to all. The Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex was well represented, as well as churches from Oklahoma and Louisiana.

GLAD hosts Building an Inclusive Church Trainings in partnership with the Institute for Welcoming Resources. These trainings contain the wisdom of 30 years of work with congregations in many different denominations. Using the Building an Inclusive Church Toolkit, these trainings provide an in depth look into a process that guides a church with grace to build community, build understanding, and build welcome.

We are currently in the planning stages for another Building an Inclusive Church Training in Ohio. If you are interested in hosting a training in your area, contact Mark Johnston at mark@gladalliance.org.

Brite Divinity School is an Open & Affirming Ministry of the Christian Church.
