You Can Help Build an Inclusive Church: Trainings Coming to Michigan and Texas

Building an Inclusive Church Trainings are scheduled in Rochester MI (April 29-30) and Ft Worth TX (May 20-21).

The training in Michigan is provided by our friends in the United Church Of Christ Open and Affirming Coalition.

In Ft Worth, the training will be held at Brite Divinity School, an Open & Affirming Ministry of the Christian Church. Trainers will be Rev. Debra Peevey, Disciples Pastor, and Rev. Dr. Mark Johnston, Executive Directory of GLAD’s Open & Affirming Ministry Program.

These trainings are for those who want to see their congregation increase welcome and become Open & Affirming and those who want to be prepared to help other congregations increase their welcome of all.

Do you live in the Upper Midwest? Do you live in Texas? Oklahoma? Arkansas? or Louisiana?

Or, really, anywhere?

You can help us build an inclusive church! How, you ask? (I knew you’d ask.)

A church doesn’t have to be “ready” to become Open & Affirming to benefit from the Building an Inclusive Church Training. Is there a church you know – perhaps your own church – that’s open to increasing welcome?

  • Call people you know and encourage them to attend a Building an Inclusive Church Training.
  • Call pastors you know and share with them about these trainings.
  • Contact Mark Johnston at mark@gladalliance.org and let him know about churches you think should be encouraged to attend.
