Virtual Pulpit Supply for ALL

What began as a resource during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic continues in an expanded and adaptable format. VPS in 2023 focuses on contemporary issues and the themes of Affirmation, Love, and Liberation. For use in the pulpit and beyond the pulpit, for building the kindom.

Virtual Pulpit Supply, yes.

Faith Formation, yes.

Spiritual Practices, yes.

Beginning February 26, new material will be available every fourth Sunday.

VPS – what and how

“Virtual Pulpit Supply” launched in 2021 with pre-recorded scripture readings, sermons, and sendings. In 2022, we added conversation starters and calls to action. We bring you the same solid resources with an adaptability that makes sense for an ever-changing landscape.

VPS is offered once a month for the fourth Sunday of each month or for any day and time relevant to your community. By 5 p.m. ET on the Monday before the assigned date, you will receive an email with a link to all downloads. If you request previous months’ materials, your downloads will be sent within 1-2 business days. To sign up, fill out this 2023 VPS request form. (Coming Soon)

Who are the speakers and what content can we expect?

Each month will feature an LGBTQ+ minister, seminarian, or faith leader. Identifying as queer or an ally, each speaker brings a new lens to scripture. Unlike the previous years’ correspondence with the lectionary, speakers will select a text to engage contemporary issues and the themes of affirmation, love, and liberation.

Downloads will include a scripture reading, reflection, prayer, and conversation starters/calls to action.

Is the reflection a sermon? If you need a sermon, it’s a sermon. If you need a message/small group lesson/morning meditation, it’s a message/small group lesson/morning meditation… The materials are adaptable. Speakers will provide their intended scripture and focus, but themes are subject to change to respond to the social landscape.

How much does it cost?

There is no cost to download the VPS materials. However, to sustain this ministry, we ask that you consider making a donation to AllianceQ. You can support the Virtual Pulpit Supply project and donate here.

You may also mail a check to: Disciples LGBTQ+ Alliance, P.O. Box 44400, Indianapolis, IN 46244 with the memo “VPS.”
