Council seeks nominations for leaders
In a message from your moderators, Luther Young and Alysha Laperche write, “The AllianceQ Council is continuing our commitment to intersectional justice. Over the past few months, we have been taking inventory of the organization, celebrating the places where we have grown, and identifying the areas that still need work. As we move forward in our efforts, we are excited to begin the process of electing new members to join the Council.”
The Disciples LGBTQ+ Alliance – AllianceQ is seeking leaders to serve as part of this transforming, expanding ministry.
Qualified candidates will understand the history of and vision for our ministry. A demonstrated commitment to justice for vulnerable groups will enhance how we can live into our mission to build a just, inclusive church.
If you are personally interested in leadership with the Alliance, complete the form about yourself. If you would like to nominate someone for leadership, please complete the form about the individual to the best of your ability.
The deadline for submissions is July 1, 2021. The nominations team will have a conversation with interested nominees and then select one to two of these nominees for presentation to the members of AllianceQ for a vote. Voting will occur in the month of August 2021, and the term of the council member(s) will begin October 1, 2021.
We are especially in need of diverse voices that represent the fullness of our church: rural and urban representation, queer and allied people of color, individuals who are differently-abled, youth, LGBTQ+ elders and parents of LGBTQ+ youth.
The Council strives for diversity based on race, ethnicity, cultural background, affectional and sexual orientation, age, ability and geographical representation. A balance of clergy and non-clergy representation is required.
