The Gay Discrimination Wars of 2015

As equal marriage becomes the norm in more states across the country, efforts to keep discrimination legal have also increased.

Often couched in religious terms, laws have been proposed in many states (and in some states, passed) that allow people to cite their religious belief and deny services to LGBT people, indeed to anyone. Some of these laws go so far as to allow EMTs and paramedics to deny service to transgender people, or allow government officials to refuse services such as issuing legal marriage licenses to same gender couples.

Detailed information about the current state of these efforts can be found in this report from the Human Rights Campaign.

This article from The Washington Post describes the latest attempts to maintain the legal right to discriminate against LGBT people.

The GLAD Alliance has teamed up with the Human Rights Campaign, the National LGBTQ Task Force, and the American Civil Liberties Union to involve people of faith countering these discriminatory laws, making the case that faith is not an excuse to discriminate.
