Webinar on Immigration and Detention

Webinar on Immigration and Detention

The Disciples National Benevolent Association has scheduled a webinar on immigration and detention for Thursday, January 18th at 1pm EST.

The webinar, “Broken Families, Broken Souls: The Impact of the U.S. Immigration System on Children and Families,” will discuss the psychological and spiritual impact our current immigration policies and practices have on the Disciples migrant communities.

This webinar will explain what trauma is, share stories of those who’ve experienced immigration trauma, and what the church can do to make a difference in the lives of the children and families affected by the broken U.S. immigration system.

This webinar is part of the NBA’s response to General Assembly Resolution 1723 “On Becoming Immigrant-Welcoming Congregations” which calls on Disciples congregations and ministries to “continue to strive to respect and affirm the dignity of every child of God and to advocate for the fair and just treatment of immigrants and immigrant families in the United States and Canada.”
