First Christian Church, Vallejo, CA, Celebrates 20 Years of Open & Affirming Ministry

First Christian Church in Vallejo, CA, sends this invitation to their celebration of 20 years of Open & Affirming ministry.

On Saturday October 4 and Sunday October 5 the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Vallejo will celebrate A Lavish Welcome—our 20th anniversary of being an Open and Affirming Congregation. The entire Northern California community (and beyond) is invited to join us for the festivities. And we especially welcome the GLBT community.

On Saturday the 4th, we will host an open house and picnic potluck at the church (1035 Indiana St. at Colusa) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be outdoor games and activities, music, speakers, and of course great food! GLAD Council Member Lizzy Beach will be our featured speaker.

On Sunday the 5th, we will continue our Lavish Welcome celebration in worship at 10:30 a.m. Our special guest preacher will be our new regional minister for Northern California-Nevada, Rev. Dr. LaTaunya Bynum.

You won’t want to miss this celebration. As the church’s pastor, Rev. Dr. Christy Newton says, “It recalls our church’s past rooted in justice and calls us toward an even more lavish welcome for any and all who need the comfort of God’s healing love.
